October 13: Celebration in the Streets
The Public Theater is finally ready for public view and to celebrate the occasion, they are closing off downtown’s Lafayette Street for what promises to be an incredible fete. Previews of upcoming shows, snacks and music will take the place of cars for this blowout celebration. The Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street, 12- 5 PM, free
October 13: An Urban Harvest
The Battery Conservancy’s Urban Farm is celebrating the harvest season with a festival this Saturday. Farm tours, workshops, food samples and cooking demonstrations will be accompanied by live music at this afternoon affair. Battery Urban Farm, State Street at Pearl Street, 11 AM- 3 PM, free
October 13: Leave the Kids at Home
While apple cider usually conjures up childhood memories, the New Amsterdam Market has something else in mind. This Saturday the market will host a Hard Cider Revival showcasing the best hard ciders around along with a assortment of delicious dishes to go with them. October 16-20: See the Greats Before They Are
Over 1,300 acts will descend on New York City for this five day indie rock festival that gives the stage to those on the brink. The past 31 years (this is the festivals 32nd in NYC) have featured acts we’ve all now grown to know and love including Lady Gaga, U2 and R.E.M. October 17-21: Theater Food Just Got A Whole Lot Better
The New York City Food Film Festival allows guests to participate in the eating they see on screen. Outside of the theater tastings, workshops, parties and lecture will go on all weekend.
