May 17-19: GoogaMooga 2.0

The Great GoogaMooga festival is back in Prospect Park this weekend for the second year. Issues of crowding, disorganization and planning which plagues last years festivities are said to have been corrected and hopefully the festival will stand up to lofty expectations. Dozens of performers and food vendors will serve festival goers each day, and this years lineup of both are bigger and badder than ever. Friday night, the Flaming Lips, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Darkness will kick off the music and food fueled weekend. May 17-21: Classic Cocktails

May 18: Get Out and Dance!

Dancers from around the globe will showcase their ethnic dance genres this weekend in a parade that will dance its way down Broadway this Saturday. Fantastical floats, live bands and DJs will join the performers in a chronologically ordered event that will trace the history of dance from the ancient to the contemporary. The Dance Parade will start at 21st Street and Broadway making its way to Tompkins Square Park, 1PM 

May 18: Taste Tribeca

This years Taste of Tribeca will both honor the neighborhoods culinary scene and do some good for a few of its schools. Seventy restaurants from the area will come together this Saturday to host what can only be described as the epitome of an epic street fair, all proceeds from which will go towards benefitting P.S. 150 and P.S. 234. May 18-19: Foods of the World, Unite. 

The annual Ninth Avenue International Food Festival is back this weekend for the 40th year. Restaurants and vendors featuring cuisines from around the globe will showcase foods for every taste. May 19: Momo Who?

You’ve heard of dumpling, mandoo and shumai but now the Himalayan momo is taking center stage. May 19-27: Can’t Get to Africa?

Then let Africa come to you. The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) hosts its annual celebration of all things Africa. May 3: The 3 B’s

Beers, burger, bowling. Basically all you need for a solid night out in honor of NYC Burger Week. May 3-5: Lucky Rice

This weekend is not all about the Mexican celebrations. Lucky Rice will highlight the best of the best in Asian cuisine with bold flavors created by celebrated names. May 4: Cultural Passport

Performers including The Roots, Solange, and TV on the Radio will play at this three day music festival hosted by BAM. April 27: Hester Street Eats

The signs that summer is return are upon us. The Hester Street Fair reopens this weekend, bringing with it a varied assortment of craft and food vendors. April 28: Tribeca Film Festival

April 6: Community Cookbook

It’s often you and your neighbors, rather than restaurants, that have the best recipes on the block. Accordingly, the Runcible Spoon is hosting a recipe swap in the form of a community cookbook event. Participants bring their recipes and food related inspirations and the Runcible Spoon will provide the rest. April 6: Brews for Man’s Best Friend

April 6: Pillows in the Park

This Saturday, pillows are the weapon of choice. Thousands will flock to Washington Square Park for the eighth annual NYC Pillow Fight fiesta. March 15-23: Asia in the USA

Asian art and culture will take to the New York City streets this week. For nine days, 65 museums, galleries, auction houses and cultural institutions will highlight works from the region, as well as host performances, panel discussions and more. Renowned domestic and international art dealers will also put various art on display for those interested, to buy. March 16: The Other Football

While we know the sport as soccer here in the U.S.A. the rest of the world refers to the fast action game as football. This Saturday, New York’s very own major league MLS team will play their season opener with striker Thierry Henry and midfielder Tim Cahill ready to go. On Sunday, March 24th, the James Beard Foundation will host an incredible night of delectable Chelsea Market eats. The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival features the best in vegetarian fare from raw chocolate and coconut milk to sushi and more. February 25: Warm Up Winter

Pork and beans are the perfect way to warm up your day and French cassoulet may be the best interpretation of the classic combination.
