Born in New York City, raised in Stamford CT. I graduated Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Digital Imaging and Photography with a second major in Art History. Currently, I am working towards earning a Master’s of Science in Tourism Management from New York University. I’ve been lucky to travel the world, including the Semester at Sea study abroad program and a post collegiate year-long stint in South Korea. Known for buying spur of the moment airline tickets, I eat my way through continents, watch more pop culture programming than for my own good, devour blogs of current cultural trends, and pride myself on being “in the know.”
Back in NYC, I want to share my journeys and daily tidbits, in hopes to inspire you to go and explore.

Hi!
I’m thinking about teaching abroad and can’t decide which recruit program. How and why did you decide on gone2korea?? AND why did you choose korea??
Hi Jennifer, I’m glad you reached out! I was working with a few recruiting companies, I believe Footprints was the other main one, and basically decided to go with which recruiter got me the best position and that was Gone2Korea. Both had good reviews online (there are always bad ones) and seemed decent enough. In the end- it’s more the school/position then the recruiter so I recommend dealing with a few to see what you can get. I chose Korea because I wanted to go to the far east, Japan is expensive and had already been to China. Korea was kind of left and I decided to go with it. I’m glad I did! Because it’s not tourist central you actually get to feel like you live a normal life in Asia but there are plenty of expats in the major cities to keep you company! Let me know if you have any questions.. I’d be more than happy to send you a more in depth email. Good luck! -Sarita
Hi Sarita! I was Googling about Gone2Korea reviews and your webpage came up. I must say, out of all the recruiter/employment services I have searched between Japan and Korea, this had less negative.
I recently applied and I’m considering applying for August start date. I had applied through EPIK last year, but was not chosen and they do not give a reason, so I applied for a company in Japan through my University’s career fair. Due to my studies, I did not have a lot of time to investigate companies. I was accepted and offered a general position for good pay with the public schools in Japan scheduled to leave March 17 or the 27 at the latest for training; but due to unforeseen circumstances, I may not make it. But, the position was only paid April until July and August was less. They do not cover start up costs nor do they pay housing fees o flights. But since, I may not make it and I have had time since graduation to research more, I have seen better offers but still the reviews speak of greed and sales. Because my focus is on teaching English I do not want to work for a company that does not love children and treats their employees bad.
One negative review about Gone2Korea was to Stay Away from them! They mentioned it was about profit, I did not understand what that meant. Does Gone2Korea require fees? The post also mentioned they were some discriminator characteristics such as Obese (fat) people, Hindus, people with religious head dress, people that look too ethnic and that Gone2Korea are for the EPIK program who discriminate.
Lastly, it mentioned, EPIK and its affiliated schools do not select people with diabetes, viruses herpes, mental health concerns. The later comment, is understandable because if a person is going to work with that person should be in good mental and physical health and able to interact with them. I have had to get TB shots and could not work with children until then, it makes sense.
Anyway, I prefer to try the GEPIK program and that’s when Gone2Korea popped up. I have never been abroad so I am more aware now what to look for than I was when I was focused on studies. I would love to go to either place and wherever I go, Japan or Korea, I plan to travel and explore the other country.
